Disability and Accessibility Services Committee
Our Mission: To promote the inclusion of youth with disAbilities in the programs and units of the Boy Scouts of America.
Our basic premise is that every youth wants to participate fully and be respected like every other member of the Pack, Troop, or Crew. While there can be - by design- units exclusively composed of Scouts with disabilities, experience has shown that Scouting usually succeeds best when every youth is part of a traditional unit.
Our aims are to:
- Empower volunteer leaders with knowledge and understanding of individuals with disAbilities.
- Encourage unit leaders to actively promote the inclusion of youth with disAbilities into Scouting units.
- Promote the growth and development of all Scouts and Scouters as a result of inclusion.
Committee Meeting Dates
Do you have a passion for enriching the lives of people with disabilities? Our committee welcomes energetic and inspired members to help promote the inclusion of youth with disAbilities in the programs and units of the Boy Scouts of America.
We meet at 7:00 pm at the Jadel Leadership Center, Every Third Thursday of the month, with sub-committees breaking out and having additional meetings.
Unit Programs
The committee has developed various educational activities to simulate the effects of having disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, hearing impairment, vision impairment, fine motor loss, and others.
