IOLS
What is IOLS?
IOLS gives adult leaders the practical knowledge they need to help Scouts learn outdoor skills. The skills presented closely follow the Scouts BSA Handbook and rank advancement requirements. To be fully trained, leaders need to complete Scouts BSA Scoutmaster Specific Training or Venturing Leader Specific Training and IOLS.
Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class or Venturing rank.
Do I Need IOLS Training?
According to Scouting America guidelines: Along with Scoutmaster Specific Training, this IOLS training is needed for all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops and Venturing Crews in order to be considered "trained".
