Suicide Prevention Training
Suicide Prevention Training Award
Erie Shores Council, in conjunction with the Lucas County Suicide Prevention Coalition, has developed this award to encourage Scouts and Scouters to learn the signs and symptoms of a person in crisis, and how to intervene appropriately. A large semicolon is pictured at the center of this award. This punctuation mark is used where an author could have ended a sentence but chose not to. It is a fitting symbol for suicide prevention. By living our oath “to keep myself mentally awake”, we are alert to indicators that someone we know could be contemplating self-harm; by analogy, an author considering ending a sentence prematurely.
The Suicide Prevention Training Award can be earned by adults and Scouts (5th Grade and up).
The Suicide Prevention Training Award application and requirements can be found by clicking HERE.
Completed applications can be dropped off to the Iott Scout Shop or mailed to PO Box 8728, Toledo, OH 43623.
