Support Scouting: Ways to Give
The Erie Shores Council operates and maintains nearly 1,500 acres of land through two camps - Camp Frontier and Camp Miakonda. These camps employ two full-time rangers, run dozens of weekend camporees, conduct summer camps, cub day camps and other outdoor activities. The Council provides program and training materials for both the youth and adult leaders, organize High-Adventure trips, holds regular youth-protection training and provides the basic Scouting program. It is a lot of hard work, but the payoff is incredible. I, along with fellow volunteer district committee members and adult Scouters recognize and support the Scouting movement and program.
In order to keep such an esteemed program running, funds are needed to support the Scouting program. For every youth involved, it costs approximately $374 to provide all of the services listed above plus many others. In addition to the monies collected by selling popcorn and other fundraisers, we need to raise the rest through the generous support of Scouting families, area individuals, organizations and businesses. Friends of Scouting will and must be continued to fuel the Council and District's everyday needs.
