Family Troop Option

The National Executive Board has approved the Family Troop Option (serving both boys and girls). The family troop model is now available as a third option to all chartering organizations as of December 15, 2025.

What to know:

• This is optional. Troops may still decide to run as a single-gender troop.
• If your troop is interested in the Family Troop option:
  • Please refer to the following guides for additional information to help you with this decision: Family Troop Decision Guide and Family Troop Best Practices Guide.
    • Your District Field Staff member will also be prepared to help your troop through the process, so please don't hesistate to ask for support.
  • Your Chartering Organization must approve the change. We can also help with that discussion.
  • Troops that intend to convert to the family troop model must complete the Intent to Convert form. Once complete, troops should submit this form to their council registrar to assist in processing the change.
    • This form is for local use only and should not be submitted to the National office.
