Free Rank

Erie Shores Council is pleased to offer this program to support advancement in our packs and troops.

Units qualifying will receive one free cloth advancement patch per rank/per Scout, as earned and recorded on a Unit Advancement Report marked as a “Free Rank Unit”.

Rank emblems included are: Lion, Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light, Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star and Life.

Records will be updated in January for Popcorn and FOS, August for summer camps, and November for Adult Training Challenge to add new qualifiers and to delete any who failed to participate.

Cub Scout Packs must do all four:

  1. Participate in the Council’s Fall Popcorn Sale – Show-N-Sell, Take Order, or both with a minimum of $100 per registered Scout on average.
     
  2. Participate in the Family “Friends of Scouting” Campaign by holding a presentation preferably during January, February, or March. Unit must establish a goal with a minimum pledge total of $350. At least 70% of pledges must be paid by December 31st.
  3. Hold a Pack Camp Promotion event and have 30% of youth participating at Erie Shores Council camps’ summer programs – Camp Miakonda’s Cub Day Camp; Eagle Bay District Cub Day Camp; Camp Frontier Arrow of Light Resident Camp.
     
  4. Participate in the Adult Training Challenge by increasing the percentage of Direct Contact Leader Training to 75% of leaders trained in Youth Protection Training (YPT) and Leader Specific Training for their position by October 31st.

Scouts BSA Troops must do all four:

  3. Hold a Troop Camp Promotion event and have 60% of youth participating at Erie Shores Council camps’ summer programs – a long-term camping experience at Camp Frontier located at Pioneer Scout Reservation and National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Camp Miakonda.
     
  4. Participate in the Adult Training Challenge by increasing the percentage of Direct Contact Leader Training to 75% of leaders trained in Youth Protection Training (YPT) and Leader Specific Training for their position.
