At least one adult on a pack or den outdoor activity must have completed Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) to properly understand the importance of program intent, youth protection guidelines, health and safety, site selection, age-appropriate activities, and sufficient adult participation.

This 1 1/2 day training is required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor activity, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. Webelos leaders that completed training prior to August 2017 must retake unless they have also completed Outdoor Webelos Leader Skills (OWLS) training. All participants must complete the online requirements before attending this training and provide proof of completion at check-in at Skills Session.
