Adult Training
Training Is IMPORTANT........... every youth deserves a trained leader!
Safeguarding Youth Training:
- Required for all registered adult volunteers before interacting with any youth.
- This training is available online and in person.
Position-Specific Training (Units):
- Provides the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in one's role as an adult leader in a unit based position.
- Completion of Safeguarding Youth Training and your Position-Specific Training is the measurement for being "trained" in Scouting America.
Position-Specific Training (Non-Units):
- Provides the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in one's role as an adult leader in a non-unit based position.
- Completion of Safeguarding Youth Training and your Position-Specific Training is the measurement for being "trained" in Scouting America.
Supplemental Training:
- Includes various courses designed to give additional information on targeted areas of the program through a combination of additional knowledge of Scouting in general, additional skills and roles knowledge, and/or beginning advanced leadership skills knowledge.
Advanced Training:
- Is for leaders desiring a deeper understanding of the program or seeking additional leadership development. These courses supplement the roles, knowledge, and skills learned at the other levels.
Training Recertifications
Keeping Scouts safe and keeping Scout leaders up-to-date with current information and methods means some of the training courses need to be retaken every couple of years. Check with the Erie Shores Council on if a training needs to be renewed (and how often) or not.
