Located at Camp Miakonda, Ohio's oldest Scout camp and the fifth-oldest surviving Scout camp in the United States, the Erie Shores Council Historical Museum preserves the rich history of Scouting with a special focus on the council and its camps.

The museum features more than 40 historic uniforms, Scouting handbooks dating back to 1910, memorabilia from every National Jamboree, exhibits on Philmont, the Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge, Cub Scouting, Sea Scouts, and more. Highlights include one of the nation's largest Hornaday Award collections and an extensive display of hand-carved neckerchief slides.

Housed in the restored 1917 camp office—believed to be the oldest standing Scouting camp building in the country—and the Jadel Service Center, the museum continues to grow through generous donations from Scouting enthusiasts.

Visitors can also explore the two-mile Camp Miakonda Historical Trail, which showcases the camp's remarkable history and landmarks. A commemorative trail patch is available for purchase upon completion.

Reservations are required to visit the museum or hike the historical trail.

Camp Miakonda Historical Trail

Those wishing to hike the Camp Miakonda Historic Trail must pick up a trail guide at the Front Museum before noon. The trail must be started no later than 1:00 p.m.

Completed trail guides should be returned to the Front Museum by 11:30 a.m. or the Back Museum by 3:30 p.m. Participants who complete the self-guided trail may purchase a commemorative trail patch at the Back Museum.

The trail follows numbered markers located throughout camp.
